Watched the movie Southpaw at the weekend and absolutely loved it.
(fought to hold a few tears back in the process)
Jake Gil… not even gonna try and spell his name, plays the Rockyesque
lone wolf character who has seemingly made it to the top.
Great relationship with his wife, a child he adores a mahoosive house,
the cars, world champ status and a bob or 2 in the bank.
But get this, his wife doesn’t want him to fight anymore, so he doesn’t!
Fair enough, yet he still has the house the cars and the lifestyle to go with it.
Without spoiling the movie for ya, you can guess what happens when you have
the lavish lifestyle but without the money coming in?
Eventually it’s gonna all run out.
You’re gonna hit rock bottom.
Made me think of myself as a testosterone fuelled young pup in my teens
and how I ate and drank what I wanted and didn’t have to worry about it
because I was earning those Calories.
I had a roaring metabolism, played sport in every spare second,
rugby, football, athletics, swimming, going to the gym.
If I wasn’t cycling to a pals I was running places,
climbing trees, jumping, heads and vols.
I imagine you had a similar experience.
But then when we get older we stop fighting…
We stop earning those calories…
But we don’t give up the lifestyle.
We keep making withdrawals on our metabolism
and getting further into debt until we hit rock bottom.
