The car sputtered and the blood drained from my face.
Driving to play against Morpeth on Saturday I was reminded of
a night over 15 years ago.
I have always had an absolute commitment to work hard,
no matter the task.
Working in Italian restaurants from the age of 13
it was one of the best educations a growing man could have.
I was often sent into the most difficult of restaurants,
because I knew how to get the job done,
and I work damn hard…
However, this doesn’t mean that I didn’t have my fair share of mishaps
There are 2 ways that Italian restaurants address service.
Pay extra for a couple of experienced talented staff or
pay less for lots of inexperienced un-talented staff…
Obviously I’m in the first category so working to save a restaurant
in Morpeth a full service of a 150 seater restaurant was left to me
As I was happily blitzing it along the A1 I remember how the car suddenly
lost all power, it coughed and as it sputtered the blood drained from my face.
My car has blown up!!!!
Nope it was a simple case of running the tank empty.
I coasted as far as I could, took the turn off,
used the natural hill to get me down and round the corner
but I came to a complete stand still on the worst part of the bend
and in the middle of nowhere…
What do you do in this situation?
Taxi to the nearest petrol station?
Call a friend?
Call the AA?
I put the hazards on flagged down the next car and got my ass to work!
7 hours later, after a monstrous shift
Returned to find mon voiture hadn’t been pinched
burnt out, smashed up…
However, the hazards had drained the battery.
me and Tore got it started…
So what’s in this for you hombre?
